USS Stewart Destroyer Ship Trip Overnighter – Feb. 24-25, 2024 – Sign Up
Join your fellow scouts for an overnight on the high seas adventure on the USS Stewart in Galveston, TX – the only remaining Edsall-Class Destroyer Escort in the United States.
The overnight stay includes tours of the USS Stewart Destroyer and USS Cavalla Submarine ships, plus an unforgettable flag ceremony, dinner, activities, movie, and bunking in original crew quarters. Next morning will be a continental breakfast and packing up.
Deadline to Sign-up is Fri. Feb. 16, 2024. (Though we can always try and add you closer to the date but spots might fill.)

- Time: 5pm to 9am
- Where: The USS Stewart rests in Galveston, next to the USS Cavalla at 100 Seawolf Pkwy, Galveston, TX 77554 (3 hrs & 45 minutes) Map and Directions
- Cost: $60 per camper (This entire fee goes to the USS Cavalla Admin). This cost includes a ticket to the museum the next day.
>Participants must be at least 5 years of age.
>Sleeping Quarters are co-ed and bunks are assigned. They will arrange parents with kids with parents on the bottom bunks and kids on the 2nd and 3rd.
>Camping slots are limited to 41 no exceptions, so RSVP soon.
>Most Dietary restrictions can be met so make sure and place them on the order form.
> Please note that there are no lockers or showers on the vessel.
What To Bring:
Each person must bring a pillow, sleeping bag, blankets, sleep wear and a change of clothes. Campers are expected to carry sleeping bags and other gear on board (might have to carry up and down stairs/ladders to sleeping area).
Toiletries but please note there are no shower facilities.
Closed toe shoes ONLY. For your safety please only bring and wear closed toe shoes.
Flashlight.
Electronic devices like phones are allowed but must stay in bags during tours and activities.
Snacks and food is allowed but only in the kitchen area.
Rules and regulations
- No running on or off the vessels.
- Always have a buddy or adult (leaving the vessel after lights out requires an adult).
- Shoes must be on unless in a bunk.
- Do not enter any closed off spaces or doors unless a staff member permits you to.
- No food or drinks outside of the mess deck area (only water).
- Do not touch any levers, buttons, or switches on both vessels.
- 3-point contact when moving down and up ladders.
- Be respectful to the vessel and the people around you.
- Free roaming is not allowed for any guest after sunset.
- Adults and children listed on the roster must stay on the property or in the parking lot. If
planning on leaving the Seawolf gates, please only do for emergency and let a staff member
know. - Employees are not permitted to cook food for guests, all food from staff will be prepackaged or
catered. If a Guest wishes to make food, they may bring their own supplies and can use the
appliances in the galley. - Alcohol, Drugs, or any paraphernalia is not permitted within the museum. If any items are found
guest will be asked to leave. - If an injury occurs, please let a staff member know so the proper first aid and paperwork can be
performed. - Please be courteous and pick up all trash.
