Cub Scouting Opportunities
• Dens (groups of four to eight boys) go on field trips to interesting places in the community.
• Boys experience a variety of outdoor fun and special age appropriate activities, such as archery,
camping, field sports, fishing, swimming, leatherwork, crafts, and an annual sleep-over on a real ship
• Cub Scouts (boys first through fifth grades) can go to resident camp: a two-night experience
at Cub World at Camp Tom Wooten near Bastrop, which includes Fort Houston, the Native
American Village, the Mineshaft, boating and a huge swimming pool.

What's expected of me as a Parent/Guardian?
• Unlike sports or other youth programs, Cub Scouting is a program that all parents/ guardians
and boys can do together regardless of skill level.
• Parents/guardians who volunteer spend an average of two to four hours per week involved
in Cub Scouting activities. This includes meetings with the boys and planning time.
• Parent/guardian volunteers can be unit leaders, pack committee chairmen, committee members
or den leaders (training is available for all positions).
